MUL- UAB Agreement

On 29 November 2012 the Rector of the Medical University officially signed an agreement on cooperation between our University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), which was one of the top 20 U.S. universities of 2011.

In collaboration with UAB joint research projects are planned for selected research groups from both universities, preparation of joint grant applications, including one in the forthcoming Horizon 2020 program, exchange of scientists and academics, team training - specialization and international doctoral studies.

The signing of the agreement took place on the occasion of the UAB's visit in Łódź, where details of cooperation between research centers were discussed and our educational and scientific offer w presented by representatives of our University's entities.

 During the three-day stay in Lodz guests: Linda Lucas - UAB Provost, Prof. Virginia J. Howard and Prof. George Howard and H. Pennington Whiteside (Director of The Sponsored International Programs) visited many UM entities and familiarized with their operation. In the busy program of the visit there was also room for a short walk through the streets of our city and tasting specialties of Polish cuisine.

The day prior to the signing of the agreement Virginia J. Howard and George Howard gave two lectures open to staff and students:

Lectures were held in the  CDUM hall in ul. Pomorska 251.

The American delegation's visit went extremely well and promising under the watchful eye of Director of the Office of International Cooperation Prof. Maciej Banach. We are hoping for fruitful collaboration and inspiring experiences in the future.
